Lake Minneola High Schoool Sports – Week in Review (February 18-24)

Late last Friday, Noah Quintana won the mile and the two-mile run in the track meet at Bishop Moore.  Mimi Cleaves won the high jump and Malachi Shannon won the long jump.  Cadi Rowe won the mile and the 800-meter run.

Tuesday, February 19

  • The Baseball Team hosted West Orange.  West Orange won both games.
  • The Softball Team lost in the 10thinning to Osceola.
  • The number 1 and number 2 girls won their matches against Olympia. Several more matches between the boys and girls were extremely close
  • Boys Lacrosse Team played their first game at the Windermere Stadium. The JV lost 5 – 4 on a last-second shot.  Nick Reardon scored two goals for the JV Hawks.  The varsity lost 17 – 11 with Matt Pemberton scoring 4 goals and Kevin Ray scoring 3 goals.  Michael Burdge and Colton Lapham also played well.

Wednesday, February 20

  • The Boys Weightlifting Team defeated Mt. Dora and Leesburg! Kenon Johnson and Adriel Clovis placed 1st.  Dakota Southerland, Eddie Reyes, Jaylen Williams, Trent Logan, Joshua Francois, Stephone Atkinson, and Jontae Allen placed 2nd, with Anthony Payne and Saquahan Cobbs placing 3rd.
  • Girls Lacrosse Team lost their home opener to West Orange

Thursday, February 21

  • The Boys Lacrosse Team played extremely well at Ocoee and won 27 – 2.  Matt Pemberton and Kevin Ray scored 4 goals apiece.
  • JV Baseball Team won at Tavares, while the varsity lost

Friday, February 22

  • JV Baseball Team lost at home against Tavares
  • Both Boys Lacrosse Teams won easily against University
  • Girls Lacrosse Team won 13 – 3 at Wekiva.

Last Friday at Lake Highland, Mimi Cleaves won her second consecutive gold medal for High Jump, Malachi Shannon broke a 5-year-old school record in the 200m, and Noah Quintana continued his domination breaking a meet record in the mile run. The girls finished second out of 15 teams. Great job Hawks!

  • Softball Team plays at home
  • Baseball Team plays at home
  • Girls Lacrosse will travel to Windermere
  • Boys Weightlifting will travel to South Sumter.

Thursday, March 1

  • JV Baseball will host Colonial
  • Tennis will host West Orange
  • Softball will travel to Montverde Academy

Friday, March 2

  • Baseball will host Real Life Christian Academy at 4 pm
  • Softball will host Cornerstone.
  • Track will go to the Raider Invitational at South Sumter, and
  • Tennis will compete against South Lake at South Lake
