Highlights of the Clermont City Council Meeting – Tuesday, February 27
First Baptist Church of Clermont
City Council reviewed and approved the request of the First Baptist Church of Clermont to build a church campus on a 38-acre vacant piece of property located on the southeast corner of Hancock Road and Hartwood Marsh Road. The proposed plan will be completed in phases and include a church facility/multi-purpose building, parking garage, PreK-5th school and sport fields.
Clermont Seventh-Day Adventist Church has purchased the present site of the First Baptist Church of Clermont at 498 W Montrose St., Clermont.
Legends Golf and Country Club/Restaurant is Closing
Council was informed that Legends Golf and Country Club/Restaurant will be closing unless a qualified buyer is located. The question was raised, does the City wanted to purchase the Golf Course. The consensus was a definite no. The city will ensure that the grounds, which will no longer be maintained as a golf course, are kept to code.
Doug Trovillian, Kona Food Trucks, requested to host 3 events in Downtown Clermont:
- A Hulalicious Clermont Food Truck event on June 2
- A Hulalicious Clermont Food Truck Event on January 19
- Kona Food Trucks Luau on the third Friday of every month for 1 year
The council denied the requests and suggested that Mr. Trovillian partner with the Clermont Downtown Partnership, a not for profit group of Downtown Clermont merchants who currently hosts monthly First Fridays and Sundays Farmers Market.
Professional Office Space
Council approved the construction of a 5,250 sq. ft. professional office building located on Chestnut Street and Hwy 50. (Across from Auto Zone).
Hancock Road Industrial Park
Council voted to approve the introduction of an Ordinance for rezoning of 22+/- acres of property located south of Hooks Street, north of Trade Avenue and east of Hancock Road. The property is currently in Lake County. The proposed plan includes for six buildings (office, retail, wholesale and personal service uses) and an outdoor storage area.
