Quilts to Books is a service learning project.  Students design quilt squares based on a topic from their curriculum.  Staff and members of the community sew the squares into beautiful quilts. Thirty-one quilts will be on display at the school’s annual Celebration of Learning on Thursday, May 17 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  Donations will be accepted for the quilts and at the end of the evening, some very fortunate people will be taking home a quilt.

Books are bought with the money that the students raise from the donations and sent to a school affected by a natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado, and flooding.

In the last twelve years, books totaling over $55,000 have been purchased and delivered to Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, New York, Oklahoma, and Tennessee through the creation of over 465 quilts.

This year the money raised through the Quilts To Books program will help Lucian Adams Elementary School in Port Arthur, Texas.  This school was flooded in August 2017.

The Quilts to Books Leadership Club is in charge of leading the school-wide project at Cypress Ridge Elementary School. The students appeared before Clermont City Council on Tuesday, May 8th meeting to express their thanks to the mayor, city manager and council members for allowing them to present their project to the Clermont community.
