Over the years, the game of golf has become less popular especially among the millenniums (20-40 years old) causing courses across the United States to close.  Some of these popular courses are being replaced with housing developments.

Many golf courses, once manicured and well-tended, have become unoccupied and overgrown.  The residents of these golfing communities fear that their property values will decline. Cities and counties are concerned that the once beautifully landscaped fairways will be a concern for city code enforcement and area police.

Palisades Country Club, a golfing community on Hwy 561 in Minneola, closed its golf course and has added 519 buildable lots to its community. See – https://backup.sltablet.com/2018/04/23/a-new-residential-community-palisades-by-regal-park-homes/

Recently, Legends Golf and Country Club, located at 1700 Legendary Blvd., Clermont, has made the announcement that its course and restaurant is closing and for sale.

On Sunday, April 29, Homeowners at the Legends Golf and Country Club met to discuss purchasing the existing golf course.

The water costs appeared to be a huge obstacle in obtaining the property and water rights are complicated, said a local resident. The LLC is investigating the situation and hopeful they will find a solution to the water cost problem.

Rand Middleton from Green Golf Partners, the company that manages golf courses advised the group that if the residents could get the water cost situation under control, they would have a very profitable golf course.

There is a lot to do before a possible sale can take place but the residents of Legends are on the right course.
