In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

In order to help celebrate Police Week, Belk Store,  270 Citrus Tower Blvd., Clermont,  has invited members of the Clermont Police Department as its special guest on Wednesday, May 16.  They will be at the store from 10 am until 12 noon to meet and greet people as they come in.

Along with our Police Officers, we will have Clermont Mayor Gail Ash, who will help us honor these law enforcement men and women from our city.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 16, at 10 a.m., to meet our guests and help pay honor to these very valiant people who protect our citizens and keep us safe.
