The Clermont Police Department and Women’s Council of Realtors will co-host a charity auction to benefit a new quality-of-life initiative started by the Clermont Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving Unit (COPPS).
The auction will be held Thursday, May 24, at 6 pm at the Clermont City Center located at 620 W. Montrose Street, Clermont.
The fundraiser will help officers start a nonprofit foundation to assist residents who struggle with a variety of issues. The prospective foundation will help with police initiatives, such as Stuff a Cruiser, CPD Homeless Initiative, CPD Youth Mentorship and Heroes and Helpers, a program that benefits children that may need help or cheer during the holidays
The event will be a Havana Nights-themed auction where participants are encouraged to dress in tropical attire. Some of the prizes being auctioned will include a beach getaway, an All-American themed bag and a “timeless” Michael Kors bag. All bags will carry a retail value of at least $150, and some will also contain secret items.
“We are excited to support such a worthy cause,” said Clermont Police Officer Michelle Rogers, who helped organize the event.
The Clermont Police Department donated a bag for the auction which includes, a “Day of Law and Order” certificate. This certificate allows the buyer to a VIP tour of the new police headquarters, a ride along with a Clermont police officer, trying out a training simulator and lunch with Chief Charles Broadway and his command staff. The bag will include a secret prize, and there will also be a raffle for an opportunity to salsa with a cop.
Advanced tickets can be purchased for $25 by emailing Susan Walker at susan@metesandboundstitle.com. All tickets will be sold prior to the event. Admission price includes a gourmet buffet and two tickets for the beer and wine bar.
