The Lake County Library system has kicked off its annual summer program for children, teens and adults. This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock!”

The program boasts more than 1,000 events and activities, all free and open to the public, including magic shows, music lessons, video game tournaments, tech
classes, reading competitions, prizes and more.

“Each of our 15 public libraries offers something different,” said Linda Goff, Youth Services Coordinator for the Lake County Library System. “We’re always finding new ways to engage the public and show everyone just how fun and resourceful libraries can be. There’s something for everyone here!”

The reading portion of the program also serves as a great way to keep young minds active and help kids return to school even smarter than when they left for summer break.

An added bonus? Seven libraries have teamed up with the Second Harvest Food Bank to provide free lunch for kids over the summer: Astor County Library, East Lake County Library in Sorrento, Leesburg Public Library, Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library in Groveland, Paisley County Library, W.T. Bland Public Library in Mount Dora and Umatilla Public Library.
