This summer’s parkruns are on a hot streak, literally and
figuratively. With temperatures close to 80 degrees and stifling
humidity, it was a difficult but rewarding day. Despite the not quite
ideal conditions, this weekend’s run had fantastic stats. 130 people
came out to take on the beautiful course along the shores of Lake
Minneola, with an impressive 24 first timers, 14 personal bests, and
representatives from 14 different clubs. The past three weeks have all
had over 120 participants, numbers we haven’t seen in over 7 weeks.
The first place male finisher this week was Kevin Grogan with an
18:09. This was his 3rd first place finish in a row and one of his
fastest times, looks like Kevin is really making a comeback! Coming in
for second was Frank Borden in 18:48. Finishing out the top three
males was overseas visitor Daniel Jackson with a solid time of 19:14.
Another overseas visitor, Cas Wright, ran a time of 19:14 to come in
as the first female and the third place overall finisher. 13 year old
Lily Henne followed close behind in 19:34. Rounding off some great
results for our visitors from across the pond was Emily Baines with a
20:49.
Norman Gardee completed his 50th parkrun this week, congrats Norman!
Jim Pickering also ran his 111th parkrun; not a milestone but a very
impressive triple digit total. Congrats to all of this week’s
finishers!
