Eleanor Elisa Titjen Logren turned 90 years young on June 26 though the celebration continued throughout the week with family and friends traveling from far and wide to honor the beautiful lady.  Eleanor seemed surprised by the outpouring of love and well-wishes and appeared to enjoy the festivities.

Eleanor grew up in New York and attended Erasmus High School.  She admits she had lots of boyfriends during her dating years but fell for her sister’s friend, Dave. Her sister brought him to a dance and guess who took him home?

Eleanor and Dave Lofgren got married on a Thursday evening in New York and immediately drove to Florida.  That Monday, Dave started working as a teacher.  The plan was that Dave would increase his teaching skills in Florida and the couple would return to New York City after a few years.

During their temporary stay in Florida, Eleanor had 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls). She graduated from Lake Sumter State College (cum laude) and became a very active member of Beta Theta, a philanthropic sorority. She has volunteed for many years at South Lake Hospital and given numerous hours to the United Methodist Church.

Dave, a WWII vet, did gain teaching experience as he set out to do. In fact, he has had a long and very successful career in education and retired as principal of Clermont High School.

The couple still remain very active in the community and have no plans on returning to New York. The couple will be celebrating their 70thwedding anniversary in August.
