The City of Groveland’s 4th of July set a new record in attendance this year and also provided an opportunity to give to some local nonprofits.
The City Council and representatives from the event co-sponsor, Lake Catherine Blueberries, presented checks for $1,419 each to FAITH Neighborhood Center, South Lake Dixie Youth Baseball and Groveland Police Explorers Post 910 at a recent city council meeting.
The $4,257 total came from net profits from the Star-Spangled Spectacular 4th of July event, which included many activities, six bands, and a dueling firework display.
