Shortly after opening day last Spring at the South Lake Little League Jamboree, nine-year-old Brody Strycharz suddenly passed away.
This year, on Saturday, September 22, the Strycharz family -Fran, Theresa, Tyler, and Kaylee -were recognized and played a part in a dedication to pay homage to Brody.
Brody Strycharz will forever be remembered for his quickness, risks taking, rallying his team when needed as well as his smile when he was getting ready to run, said League President Scott Nethero.
The team has proudly wore Brody’s number 9 across their chests and on their hats for each game. On their last game of the season, the team played as number 9. That game was the last game for number 9; as of 9/22/2018, the team is officially retiring the number 9 jersey from South Lake Little League in honor of Brody Strycharz.
His jersey and plaque will be on display in the South Lake Little League’s concession stand going forward. The Strycharz family said it was an honor to have Brody in the league and know his spirit is with the team in every game.
