On the first Sunday of each month, the Clermont-Minneola Lions can be found at the Downtown Clermont Farmer’s Market selling brooms made by the blind. It’s a source of fundraising that supports the blind as well as people with vision problems. The Lions accept all kinds of used eyeglasses which are distributed around the world to thousands of people with no other way to get corrective eyeglasses.

This week the Clermont-Minneola Lions Club had a very successful day at Sunday’s Farmers Market!  Five prospective new members were encouraged to visit the Club which meets on the second Thursday of the month, 6:30 pm at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, downtown Clermont.

Benjamin Mack-Jackson will be speaker at this month’s meeting. He has taken on an educational project to promote the history of veterans. In addition, the Club has Vice Dist. Governor, Greg Evans scheduled to install new members.

As the Club was finishing its day at market, the Wagner family, Nalasco, Giovanna and their daughters, Valentina 8 and Maria 5 stopped by so the girls could have a Beany Baby that the Lions were giving out. The Lions have found that toys are a great way to share and engage folks in becoming aware of some of the work and great fun the Club has to offer. Especially appreciated are the toys collected for our police officers to keep in their trunks for domestic calls.
The Club will open its shooting range next Saturday for handguns as well as 22 cal. rifles.  The shooting range has become its best fundraiser offering instructions to new shooters. The pistol and rifle range is open on the second and third Saturdays while shotgun skeet and target shooting is held on third Saturdays. Handgun shooting costs $15.00, patrons bring their own ammunition.  Shotgun shooting costs $5.00 for ten clays. The Club provides shells.
Look for the sign across from Tractor Supply on SR 50 in Groveland. Coffee and donuts are served from the RV on site. For range information, contact:
