A representative from "Give Hope Foundation" received the money raised by the class.

Linda Cruz, a teacher at Minneola Charter, along with her students held a fundraiser to bring awareness of Childhood Cancer. “We held a pajama/hat day plus sold 450 baked goods that the students baked themselves in the classroom”, said Ms. Cruz. “We were able to raise over $1,700 by the graciousness of our Mustang families here at Minneola Charter”, she proudly announced.

Pajama/Hat Day

This fundraiser served three purposes. First, it allowed Ms. Cruz to teach her students about compassion, empathy, and giving. Second, the class chose the Give Hope Foundation in Orlando because it serves families whose children are battling cancer in Central Florida. Lastly, it’s a cause near and dear to Ms. Cruz. She lost my own daughter at 4 years old to cancer almost 15 years ago.

Ms. Cruz said this was the second year doing this fundraiser and she hopes to be able to continue to do it for many years to come.
