Mickey recently celebrated 90 years of Magic; and since the Walt Disney Company’s earliest days, a tradition of community service and “being a good neighbor” has been integral to the Company’s culture.
At November’s South Lake Chamber of Commerce breakfast, Betty Lowrey, manager of Disney’s Corporate Citizenship, discussed how the Company works alongside businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders in order to make Central Florida an even better place to live, work, learn and play.
Betty and her team develop strategic community outreach and contribution strategies that make the greatest impact in the community through financial and resource contributions.
The Disney Company has always believed that the community is at its best when it collaborates as volunteers, neighbors, and friends. George A. Kalogridis, President of Walt Disney World Resort, has proudly described the Disney culture:
“Growing up in Central Florida, I was fortunate to be part of a caring network of family. friends and neighbors. When we support children and families as part of a strong, dynamic community, there’s no limit to what we can do together. I’m proud to be part of a Company that embraces this spirit of partnership and puts action behind its dream of Central Florida’s continued progress and vitality”.
Walt Disney World Resort not only creates unforgettable memories for children and their families but collaborates with organizations such as Give Kids the World and Make-A-Wish Foundation to create magical moments and precious memories. Disney VolunEARS are cast members that help make the magic happen. They provide assistance to local and national recognized non-profit organizations.
To celebrate Mickey’s 90th Celebration, from November 4-17, people could share their ears on social media, #ShareYourEars and Disney would donate $5 to Make-A-Wish (up to $2 million) to grant even more wishes.
Those attending the chamber breakfast helped celebrate Mickey’s “90-EARS” of entertainment and making life-changing wishes come true.
Note from the owner and editor of the SOUTH LAKE TABLET:
Before I retired, I worked for the Mouse for 29 years. I held roles in many areas (including Casting, Merchandise, Public Affairs, Minority Business Development, Marketing). Wherever I worked, my teams were committed to creating magical moments and making a Disney Difference. As you might guess, I haven’t lost my pixie dust; and yes, I am still proud and protective of the Disney Culture.
Thank you Mickey and Happy 90 EARS.
