Lake County’s official Christmas tree, themed ‘Pawliday Wishes,’ is designed this year to help bring awareness to Lake County’s homeless pets.
“The goal of the tree is to showcase the county’s support for the Lake County Animal Shelter and offer a way for citizens to become more involved in volunteering, rescuing and adopting shelter pets,” said Niki Booth, Executive Office Manager for the County Manager’s Office, who came up with the tree’s theme.
The tree is adorned with hand-crafted ornaments created by county staff and volunteers, including dog bone garland, yarn balls resembling cat toys, pet photo snowflakes, and customizable handmade paper ornaments. The paper ornaments come in three unique colors and designs, including a cat, a dog, and the shelter logo.
Residents can help support the Lake County Animal Shelter this season by:
Donating a suggested minimum of $1 to purchase a paper ornament, proceeds from which will benefit shelter pets. The ornaments may be purchased at any of the following locations:
- Lake County Manager’s Office, 315 W. Main St., Tavares, Suite 308
- The Lake County Animal Shelter, 28123 County Road 561, Tavares

“There are many wonderful ways to support shelter pets during this time of year, but the best way is to give one a home for the holidays and forever,” said Whitney Boylston, Lake County Animal Shelter Director.
The tree, a collective effort of the County Manager’s Office, Lake County Animal Shelter and Office of Communications, may be viewed at the County Administration Building rotunda during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 am – 5 pm
