City of Clermont administers oath of office to Mayor Gail Ash, Mayor Pro Tem Tim Bates and Councilwoman Diane Travis

At Tuesday evening’s Clermont City Council meeting, three newly elected city council members solemnly swore to perform the duties of their elected office.  All three city council members come to the office highly knowledgeable having previously served on the city council.

Mayor Pro Tem Tim Bates (seat 1) has served on the City Council since 2012. Councilman Bates is vice president of operations in the home health and medical equipment industry. He is a certified environmental access consultant and an aging-in-place specialist who holds licenses as a certified building contractor and a real estate agent.

Mayor Gail Ash (seat 3) was elected mayor in November 2014. She previously served on the City Council from 2002 – 2005 and served on the Clermont Planning and Zoning Commission in 2007, 2008 and 2013. Mayor Ash is a retired educator who taught elementary school for 32 years.

Councilwoman Diane Travis (seat 5) was elected to the City Council in November 2014. Councilwoman Travis is a broker and owner of Travis Realty Group.

The General Election results:

  • Ash received 8,935 votes (56.89 percent), while Jack Kruse received 6,771 votes (43.11 percent).
  • Travis received 9,622 votes (63.19 percent), while Ebo Entsuah received 5,604 votes (36.81 percent).
  • Bates was unopposed.
