Tonight is the first and only total lunar eclipse of 2019!
The first full moon of the year is named “Wolf Moon”. When the full moon occurs during the moon’s closest approach to earth, it appears larger and brighter in the sky. This is called a “Supermoon”. “Blood Moon” is used to describe a lunar eclipse, that’s when the earth passes between the sun and the moon.
The Super Blood Wolf Moon Lunar eclipse will begin at 10:30 pm and for close to an hour, the full moon will become fully tinted with the red-orange color of sunset.
This will be the last total lunar eclipse until May of 2021, so set your alarms, put on your jackets, and set your sights to the sky.
