Clermont Fire Marshal Jennifer Pierce, Lt. Jeremiah Plasters, Engineer Lt. Bryan Bull, Engineer Blake McCorkle, Engineer Kenny Thompson, Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Padgett, Firefighter/EMT Michael Rock were deployed to the Florida Panhandle after Hurricane Michael. Each left the comfort of his/her home, family and friends to selflessly aid and protect the victims of the destructive storm.
Central Regional Manager of External Affairs Zane Beard recently attended Clermont’s State of the City at which City Manager Darren Gray recognized the seven firefighters for their service in the Panhandle after Hurricane Michael. Zane returned to his office to share the information with Jimmy Patronis, Florida State Fire Marshal and Chief Financial Officer. Patronis was so appreciative that he wanted to personally thank them.
On Thursday, February 7, Patronis came to Clermont Fire House 1 to personally thank the seven firefighters and give each a letter of appreciation.
Surrounded by a large number of colleagues, family, and friends, the seven were praised by CFO Patronis who stated, “I just wanted to tell all of you how much I appreciate you. I can’t repay you for what you’ve done, but I’ll guarantee all of you will always have an advocate in Tallahassee”.
Clermont Fire Chief Carle Bishop proudly watched and later exclaimed, “I am proud to be able to share the skills and abilities of the men and women of the Clermont Fire Department to help save lives and improve the living conditions of the victims of these major disasters. We are extremely grateful for Chief Patronis to take time out of his busy schedule to personally thank the members who participated in the disaster recovery of Hurricane Michael.”
Mayor Gail Ash, who attended the event, said “We’re so proud of the brave men and women in our fire department. These seven brought hope during a devastating time in the Panhandle, and they make an impact every day in Clermont.”
