The Groveland Historical Society held a Founders Day Expo at the Puryear Building last Saturday. The expo contained a wealth of historic knowledge in the form of photographs and memorabilia from the city’s past.
Retired Groveland Police Chief T.R. “Tommy” Merrill was among those at the Expo offering attendees a glimpse of Groveland’s past. Merrill is a life-long Lake County native, a U.S. Air Force veteran and served the citizens of Groveland as their police chief for over 40 years and is one of the longest-serving police chiefs in the United States.
