Cheer on your local law enforcement agencies as they compete in a charity softball game.

The Clermont Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office will play a softball game in the Commissioner’s Cup to benefit the family of Deputy Herbert Cole, who died in a car crash in December 2018.

This softball game will take place on May 4 at the Minneola Athletic Complex, 1300 Fosgate Road, Minneola. The game between Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Clermont Police officers will start at 6:30 pm, and the field will open at 5 pm. This great event was partly organized by Lake County Commissioner Sean Parks, who will be a celebrity player for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Concessions will benefit Cole’s family.

Cole passed away on Dec. 29, 2018 on County Road 439 in Eustis when another vehicle veered into his lane and struck him head-on. Cole began working for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in 2016 after serving several years as a correctional officer at the Lake Correctional Institution, a state prison in Lake County.

Come out and join us for this worthwhile event as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office plays the Clermont Police Department in honor of Cole.
