Congratulations Rissie!

Clermont Waterfront parkrun turns six this week and will be hosting its 283rd free 5k.

In that time, 7,596 different people have completed 24,664 5ks. Participants have spent a combined total of 1 year, 176 days, 18 hours, 36 minutes, and 49 seconds on the course, thus proving once and for all that no one is “too slow” to participate in parkrun!

In the Clermont parkrun’s six short years, they have seen many lives transformed, many personal records broken (including a world record set by the fastest 12-year old ever to complete a 5k), and more lifelong friendships formed than could possibly be counted. It has gone from being the only parkrun in Florida to having two siblings, and a third on the way May 18th–the first state in the US to be home to FOUR parkruns!

Join the run and have some fun.

Clermont Waterfront parkrun – April 20

What better way to kick off Easter weekend than by running a 5k. Clearly, I wasn’t the only runner who thought so. This week at the Clermont Waterfront Parkrun, we had a very impressive total of 219 participants come out to take on the beautiful course along Lake Minneola Shores. There was a whopping 74 were first timers and 36 new Personal Bests. Seems like a lot of people were motivated to break out a sweat before they break out the candy.

This weekend marked some noteworthy volunteer milestones. Kendall Trump volunteered for her 25th  and Anne McFarlane volunteered for her 50thparkrun. Congratulations on your accomplishment and thanks for your tremendous support of parkrun. Special recognition goes out to Rissie Thieler, who hit her 100th volunteer milestone on Saturday. She has been a long-time participant, volunteer and now part-time race director of the Clermont parkrun since it was founded over 5 years ago! She never ceases to make everyone smile with her continuous support and positivity. It is extremely respectable to run over 100 5ks, but it is even more respectable to volunteer at 100 5ks without anything in it for yourself.

There was a nice pack at the top of the men’s race this weekend. Junior Anthony Suarez came out on top in a new PB of 18:10. He was followed close behind by Reeves Oakman in 18:20, and then Matt Feltham in 18:24.

Clare Patterson finished first on the female side this weekend in a time of 21:01. Paula Williams took second place honors in 21:43, and junior Reagan Parks rounded out the top 3 with a 22:44.

Ann Higgins from England celebrated her 100th parkrun here in Clermont, congrats Ann!
