The South Lake County Historical Society has decided that the time has come to change its name to something that is more in line with what its mission has become. For close to ten years the Society has devoted all its attention to working with the City of Clermont on the Clermont Historic Village. Keeping that in mind and wanting to have a name that reflects that mission, the Historical Society is pleased to announce that it is changing its name to The Clermont Historical Society.
The Historic Village is a unique partnership between the City of Clermont and the Historical Society. Together they work to provide the citizens of Clermont and visitors from all over Florida, from across our great nation, and from around the world the opportunity to step back in time and experience the Florida pioneer life. People of all ages find fascinating objects to enjoy from senior citizens who remember items from their grandparents’ homes to school age children who try to figure out how to work a rotary phone or a manual typewriter.
The Village is open every Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Admission to the Village is always free but a donation of $3.00 per person is requested.

The next meeting is September 9th.
