In July of this year, the community lost Ray Goodgame, a passionate, dedicated and tenacious community leader. Ray embodied the same qualities that will help make the community’s young people into the leaders of tomorrow. Thus the South Lake Chamber of Commerce (SLCC) thought it fitting to dedicate the Outstanding Student Leader Award in his name.

David Colby, SLCC President and CEO, asked Ray’s wife Judy Goodgame, along with Ray’s very good friend Jim Purvis, and the Chamber of Commerce Liaison for the Clermont City Council Heidi Brishke to announce the first Ray Goodgame Outstanding Student Leader Award. The Ray Goodgame Outstanding Student Leader Award will honor students in the South Lake area, who like Ray, serve as a champion for his/her community.

The first of many of these awards was presented to Zayna JeBailey of Montverde Academy.

Zayna is an honor roll student that currently holds a GPA of 4.15. In addition to her AP and honors courses, she also serves as the Tri-M President, is involved in the National Honor Society and was part of the Headmaster Leadership Institute Arts & Athletics Leadership Committee. She is also the yearbook senior editor, choir president and a member of the Montverde Academy Music Conservatory for voice, piano, and orchestra.

Outside of the classroom, Zayna is an inaugural member of the Orlando St. Jude Leadership Society. As a member, she began the “One in a Million: A Night of Magic and Hope” teen gala which in two years has raised more than $56,000.

Zayna has also been on 3 mission trips to Panama and Belize and has a passion for working with children at her church. Zayna also spent the spring and summer working as an intern in Dreamwalker Productions.

Congratulations Zayna.
