South Lake County Holds Elections – VOTE November 5

On November 5th, the town of Montverde will conduct a municipal election to allow registered voters of the township to vote on a charter referendum. The cities of Clermont, Mascotte, and Minneola will conduct a municipal election on that same date as well.

Supervisor of Elections Alan Hays is advising voters who live within the city/town limits of these municipalities to double-check their voter information cards for current precinct information prior to heading to the polls. Voters may also visit the Lake County Supervisor of Elections website and click the Find My Precinct tab for up-to-date precinct and polling location information. 

All the candidates from south Lake County are qualified to hold office and all have a passion to serve.  It’s up to you to RESEARCH, SELECT and VOTE for the candidate of your choice.

If you don’t VOTE, don’t complain about the outcome of the election.

City of Clermont will be voting to fill Seat 2 and 4

Seat 2

Joe Gustafson served as a US Merchant Marine and USNR. He graduated from The New York State Maritime College with a double major in Oceanography and Meteorology. (see Facebook – Joe Gustafson for Clermont)

James (Jim) Purvis is an active resident of Clermont for nearly 20 years, actively serving on multiple committees and boards to help the people of Florida. He attended La Salle University and St. Francis Prep. (see Facebook – Jim Purvis)

Seat 4

Heidi L. Brishke(incumbent) has served on the City Council since 2017. Brishke is a manager of workplace services in the hospitality industry.  She is on the board of directors for The Animal League (aka South Lake Animal League). (See City of Clermont)

Ebo Entsuah was raised in Clermont and attended East Ridge High School and Florida State University. He now works at Montverde Academy. (see Facebook –  EBO for Clermont)

City of Groveland – Council seats 2 and 4  (Unopposed)

Both District 2 seat, held by Vice Mayor Mike Radzik and District 4 seat, held by Councilmember (Duane) Mike Smith, are unopposed. Both councilmembers will remain in office for another 2 years. The City will not be holding elections.

City of Minneola residents will be voting to fill Seat 5 on the City Council

Councilman Joe Saunders, (incumbent) who occupies Seat 5, is being challenged by Paul Giacalone. (see Facebook – Joe Saunders).

Paul Giacalone comes from Brooklyn, NY and is a resident of Minneola since 2009. (see Facebook – Paul Giacalone)

The other two seats up for re-election will not see a change since Pam Serviss, who sits on Seat 1, and Pat Kelley, who holds Mayoral Seat 3, are running unopposed

City of Mascotte – Council seats 1, 3, and 5 are open.

Seat 1 is held by Sally Rayman and Seat 5 is held by Steven Sheffield.  No one qualified to run against them, so they will be re-elected unopposed.

Seat 3, the Mayor’s seat currently held by Barbara Krull is being challenged by Mike Sykes.

Barbara Krull (incumbent) has been active in City politics for the last 16 years holding a Council seat, Mayor ProTem, and is now the Mayor.  (further info – See Barbara Krull – City of Mascotte web site.)

Mike Sykes brings Marine Corp, local teaching, and Disaster Preparedness Planning (Sumter County) experience to the contest. (see  – FaceBook-MikeSykesforMayor).
