Clermont’s Jennifer Pierce has been named the 2019 Florida Fire Marshal of the Year.

The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (FFMIA) presented Pierce with the honor during the Florida Fire Prevention Conference on November 4, in Daytona Beach.

Clermont Fire Chief David Ezell shared the news with the Clermont City Council a recent council meeting. He also announced that Pierce was chosen to serve as the statewide director of fire marshals on the FFMIA Board of Directors.

“We congratulate her for her incredible accomplishments,” Clermont Mayor Gail Ash said. “It’s evidence of what a great job she’s doing here in Clermont.”

Pierce has over 15 years in the fire service and is active in numerous professional organizations.

“Pierce continues to exemplify what it means to be a Clermont Champion,” City Manager Darren Gray said. “She provides the highest level of service to Clermont’s growing list of businesses, especially working with downtown’s historic buildings and new business owners.”

Pierce was an instrumental part of the Clermont Fire Department’s international accreditation in 2018, as well as its ISO Public Protection Class rating of 2.

“Fire Marshal Pierce received a number of outstanding recommendations for this designation and clearly demonstrates the leadership qualities we strive for in determining the recipient of this prestigious award,” Jon Pasqualone, executive director of the FFMIA, said. “She is very deserving and I am confident she will represent our service well.”

Pierce oversees the daily operations of the Fire Prevention Division, in addition to serving as fire marshal. This includes the review of plans for fire protection and life safety, fire inspections and investigations, and coordinating community relations.

“All the great things that we accomplish we do as a team and I’m happy to be a leader in some of those,” Pierce said. “It is truly an honor to work for the Clermont Fire Department.”
