For decades, as the holiday approaches, the residents of Leisure Manor, a senior living facility, in Minneola, FL, prepare their holiday wish lists. The lists are collected and sent to Santa’s Helpers, Beta Theta.
Beta Theta-ESA is a community service organization, chartered more than 40 years ago to provide scholarships to local high schools and support to local non-profit organizations.
On December 20th, members of Beta Theta packed their cars with gayly wrapped gifts and headed to Leisure Manor to fulfill as many wishes as possible for the 28 residents. Santa’s list sometimes is very specific and includes such items as gift cards, sweets, CDs, clothing, socks, shoes, colognes, drawing pads and pens. The personalized, tagged gifts are placed under the tree by Beta Theta and ready to open.
Beta Theta members Jackie Ulch and Donna Kidder coordinate the gift-giving event and agree that it is an emotional and gratifying experience. “The residents are all eager and excited to greet us and see what Santa brings. Our gifts and visit bring joy to the Leisure Manor residents and is very rewarding for us”, said Ulch.
