Registration is now open for the South Lake Geneology Society is presenting its 3rd Annual Mid-Winter Conference in Clermont.  This year learn Tips & Tricks to Uncover Your Past.  Kathy and Clyde Stickney are guest speakers.

The one-day conference is scheduled from 9 am to 4 pm.  Lunch is available for an extra cost and admission is $30.00 a person.  Doris Bloodsworth co-writer of “Clermont: From Gem of the Hills to Choice of Champions” will show a short film on Clermont in the 1920s. Discounted copies of the Book will be available for purchase.

The morning will start with Kathy Stickney as she speaks about “Finding Out More About Your Ancestors Through Newspapers” then her husband Clyde will join her for “Establishing Generational Relationships Prior to the 1880 Census”.

After lunch and a tour of the Genealogy Room at Cooper Memorial Library, Dick Eastman will have two presentations. Eastman will start with “Better than Soundex” utilizing a better system that has been used by Census Bureau and genealogists since 1918. The day will end with “Find Genealogy Books for Free and For Pay” as Dick Eastman tell us how to find online resources and local history books for genealogical research.

This year the conference will take place in the auditorium at Lake-Sumter State College Clermont Campus. Registration is at PastfindersSLC.Org, space is limited so register today.
