In an effort to protect its valued community from the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), the City of Groveland will be closing all of its non-Public Safety facilities effective Monday, March 23, 2020. Residents are directed to utilize mail-in checks, the outside drop box or online payment features, to complete billing statements. Waste collections are expected to continue as normal until further notice. Following this announcement, the City has also made a decision to close its recreational facilities and local park restrooms and until further notice. City parks will remain open for the convenience of community families, however, all previously scheduled Youth League games to be held at the parks are canceled. These service adjustments have been implemented to reflect the City’s support of public health guidelines outlined in the White House’s “15 Days to Slow the Spread document”.
Although all park playgrounds including the City’s Skate Park remain open, visitors are urged to continue exercising social distancing precautions. Portable hand sanitizers are recommended when visiting playgrounds and the Skate Park, to encourage frequent sanitizing practices.
Florida government officials urge public compliance with operational changes in their cities, citing public safety efforts are “locally executed, state managed, and federally supported.” As the City continues to adjust precautions during this fluid situation, residents are encouraged to keep up to date with operational changes and City services, via the City’s Facebook page and online at http://groveland-fl.gov/.
