Four City of Clermont firefighters are self-isolating after learning of possible exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

On March 29, a Lake County EMS employee working out of Clermont Fire Station 1 tested positive for COVID-19.

The Station 1 crew of four immediately were instructed to self-isolate for 14 days on a no-work order, following direction from the Florida Department of Health (DOH); they have not reported any symptoms.

The Lake employee who tested positive has not worked in any of Clermont’s fire stations since 7 a.m. March 26 and only had contact with the one crew who rose to the level of exposure (contact within 6 feet without personal protective equipment during the 48 hours prior to experiencing symptoms).

Clermont Fire continues to follow the thorough precautions that have been put in place to protect them from COVID-19, including wearing personal protective equipment on every call and limiting their exposure on medical scenes to a single medic whenever possible.
