Ruth Ann Morehouse passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Ruth was born on November 3, 1936 in Geneva, New York to Joseph and Lillian Peisher. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Joseph and Michael Peisher.
In June of 1957, Ruth married Alton (Rube) Morehouse. Wedded life started out in Penn Yan, New York. They had four children: Anthony Morehouse (Groveland, FL), Bridget Morehouse Conley (Clermont, FL), Bernadette Morehouse McClellan (Melrose, FL) and Lillian Morehouse Welborn (Clermont, FL).
In 1972, Rube and Ruth moved the family to Clermont, Florida. Ruth was involved in the Clermont community for decades. She volunteered as a city league girls’ softball coach, swim teacher and was involved with the local Girl Scouts and 4-H Club. Ruth was an amazing baker and made many wedding cakes for friends and colleagues. After her retirement as a creative costuming supervisor from Walt Disney World, her passion was spending her time helping the American Legion’s Clermont Post 55. She was also a long-term American Legion Women’s Auxiliary president. Quick of wit, easy to smile but always making her voice heard, Ruth was a steadfast friend, beloved wife and awesome mom.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Alton (Rube) Morehouse (Clermont, FL); her children: Anthony Morehouse (Groveland, FL), Bridget (Bruce) Morehouse Conley (Clermont, FL), Bernadette (Jerry) Morehouse McClellan (Melrose, FL) and Lillian (James) Morehouse Welborn (Clermont, FL); seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her brother: Stephen (Ann) Peisher (Warner Robbins, GA).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
“She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain, she’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, no more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you’ll be together before long. Until then, listen for her song.”
