Campers and staff will follow safety protocols to help slow the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus

Lake County Schools is opening its Extended Learning Center (ELC) Summer Camp this month with an emphasis on CDC safety protocols, as the district continues to do its part to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

While enjoying sports, games, arts and crafts and academic-related activities, students will be required to stay in smaller groups, wash their hands frequently and practice social distancing. Safety protocols will also include daily health screenings and optional masks for students.

The camps are an extension of the district’s Extended Learning Center program, which operates before- and after-school enrichment during the school year. They will be held at the following elementary school sites: Beverly Shores, Cypress Ridge, Eustis Heights, Fruitland Park, Grassy Lake, Groveland, Lost Lake, Sorrento and Treadway.

Parents can choose one or both sessions. Session A is June 15 through July 3, and Session B is July 13 through July 31. Operating hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at a cost of $90 per week. All campsites are closed July 6-10.

Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, and will remain open through 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 10.

Parents can look for a registration link on social media pages and web sites for the district and each of our elementary schools starting at 7:30 a.m. on June 4.
