Parents of students in Lake County Schools have until midnight Wednesday, July 29, to choose the instructional back-to-school option they want for their children when they return to school on August 24.
The district is offering four options:
Traditional — Face-to-face, in-school learning aligned to state standards and Lake County Curriculum Blueprints.
Full-Time Lake County Virtual School –– Flexible daily virtual learning with teachers available throughout the day, including evening hours. Instruction includes 2-3 teacher live lessons weekly.
Modified Day — Traditional in-school learning for English Language Arts and Math, with other courses taken virtually through Lake County Virtual School.
Lake Live — Structured virtual learning that mirrors the traditional daily school schedule. Students stay enrolled in their home school and are taught by teachers from their enrolled school when possible based upon enrollment and teacher availability.
As of Tuesday morning, more than 22,000 parents had completed Lake’s Enrollment Intent Form, which is only for those parents who are planning to send their children to non-charter schools in the district. Charter schools have their own reopening plans. Of those parents who have chosen a district option, 45% said they prefer to send their children back to brick-and-mortar schools for traditional, face-to-face instruction; 25% chose Lake Live; 23% selected full-time Lake County Virtual School, and 7% wanted the Modified Day option.
Parents can find the Enrollment Intent Form, as well as an updated list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and more details about Lake’s reopening plan, at http://lake.k12.fl.us/reopening.
