2J’s Seafood is perhaps, one of central Florida’s least kept secrets. Brothers John and Jim Goguen, John being a retired U.S. Marine and one of 5 brothers in and out of the Corps; they’ve built one of the best traveling seafood markets offering fresh-caught fish and seafood around.
Clermont Farmer’s Market Market is one of 12 stops on their weekly tour as they supply seafood lovers with their ocean and lake goodies. John has been a mainstay at the market for 6 years. You can see them every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm on Montrose Street in Historic Downtown Clermont.
When John retired from the corps, he was looking for something to do part-time to supplement his income and time but little did he know that in a short period, the business would explode for them as they grew through quality fish and superior customer service. Nothing is frozen!
One of my favorites is their crafted smoked salmon (using applewood and oak). They sell out every week. I have personally seen folks who don’t usually prefer salmon turn into fans with this versatile treat as you can eat it cold, sprinkle it on salads, fry it up with eggs … any way is right.
They also offer Maryland-style crab cakes in 1/4 and 1/2 pound sizes…very little binder is used and you know when you taste them. Take my word for it as I’m a Marylander.
Ask to taste their crab and fish salads that John makes…I tasted the mahi / grouper salad and it’s delicious.
Try their New England scallops or their many different varieties of shrimp, crab or fish fillets. You will not be disappointed. They also do special orders and will bring your requests to one of their many stops.
