The Groveland Historical Society Museum’s float not only took 1st place but also received the prestigious Mayor’s Choice Award. The float was awesome and will be remembered for its significance and stirring theme.
Six Christmas trees adorned the float decorated for each of the six branches of the military.
Shown with the Historical Society’s president, Mary Helen Myers, are left to right: Marine Sergeant Manuel Bermudez, Air Force Tech Sergeant Amalya Velez, Navy Chief Petty Officer Jeremy Pearson, representing the Space Force, GIS Analyst Richard Helfst, Coast Guard District Captain, Dr. Martin Goodwin, and retired Army Sergeant First Class James Smith.
The Groveland museum, located at 243 S. Lake Avenue (adjacent to the Puryear Building), has recently reopened its doors to the public, with safety precautions in place. Enjoy a free tour of the newly remodeled museum by visiting Saturdays 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., and discover Groveland’s fascinating history!
