The Clermont High School Alumni Scholarship Committee and the CHS Reunion Committee are excited to announce two $1,000 scholarship recipients for 2020-21. Congratulations to Hailey Bladek and Ellexandria Schmidt! Both recipients demonstrated a strong commitment to their community, dedication to their studies and involvement in a variety of school activities.
Hailey Bladek is the daughter of Michelle Bladek (CHS’93). She is FFA Chapter Vice President at South Lake High School and has been very involved in Lake County Cattlemen’s 4-H. She has volunteered at many community events, is an accomplished public speaker and anticipates completing her AA degree this year at Lake Sumter State College with hopes to pursue an agriculture business degree at University of Florida culminating in a PhD.
Ellexandria Schmidt is the daughter of Jennifer and Kyle Schmidt (CHS’94) and attends South Lake High School (SLHS). She is enrolled in Lake Sumter State College with a goal of becoming a dental hygienist. She is Varsity Swim Captain, involved in Varsity Volleyball and is part of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program at SLHS.
Through the generosity of alumni and local businesses, the Clermont High School Alumni Scholarship Program has awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships to deserving South Lake County high school seniors who are related to those who attended Clermont High School (which closed in the ‘90s).
The CHS scholarship funds are held at the Community Foundation of South Lake (cfslc.org – a charitable organization) which also provides the application oversight. The committee thanks those who have previously donated to the CHS Alumni Scholarship Fund. Due to the 2020 reunion cancellation, scholarship donations lagged behind. The scholarship funds are held at the Community Foundation of South Lake (www.cfslc.org – a charitable organization) which also provides the application oversight. Tax-deductible donations are welcome and should be made to the CFLSC Clermont HS Scholarship Fund, which can also accept memorial contributions and has a “legacy fund” for estate planning.
