Many members of the Clermont Triathlon Club recently had a very exciting weekend.
Congratulations to Toni Richardson (Clermont), Michelle Craske (Clermont), Melanie Johnson (Winter Garden), Aaron Pazik (Oakland) and Marcin Jakuboliski (Lake Nona) on completing their very first swim, bike & run training at Waterfront Park this past Saturday morning!
Later that same day, in Tuscaloosa AL, Clermont resident Tony Aseere placed 2nd in the nation for his age group in the USAT Duathlon National Championships. The following day, he would compete again in a draft-legal race where he also placed 2nd.
On that Sunday, Sharon Gallant-Pierce qualified for the Ironman. World Championships in Kona, Hawaii by finishing 3rd in her age group with a 10-hour 49-minute finish at Ironman Tulsa. Her husband, Andy Pierce, also completed the same event. Originally from Canada, Sharon and Andy own a home in Clermont so they can spend most of their winters here.
Also on Sunday, Aaron Clark of the Clermont Police Department had a strong performance at Ironman Chattanooga 70.3, and Betsy Langan of Clermont won her age group in the Game-On Key Largo Triathlon.
