Hot Dogs are a crowd pleaser and at Good Dog Eats, the aroma of hot dogs, the welcoming greeting from a friendly crew, and flags flying proudly draw people ready to chow down.
After seeing the new hot dog stand at many events (Pups in the Park, Clermont Red White & Boom. Groveland 4th of July Celebration, The Cove at Cypress Cove Marina), I dropped by to see what’s so hot at Hot Dog Eats?
Jeremy Kevitt is the owner and operator of Good Dog Eats and his crew is his family.
TABLET: Can you explain why Good Dog Eats is attracting a lot of hot dogs lovers. What do you think is the attraction?
Our standard menu consists of 100% all-beef hot dogs: quality top brands prepared in a fresh-made broth solution (also known as New York dirty water). The dogs are grilled to perfection adding that extra southern BBQ taste. There are two sizes of dogs to chose from: The small dog (regular size hot dog) and the Big Dog (1/4 lbs.). Keto-friendly versions and several sides and drinks are available. Catering is also available with a wider menu variety. We also offer occasional special sausages and seasonal items such as fresh “dog on” watermelon wedges, fresh-made lemonade, and much more.
SOUTH. LAKE TABLET: What made you get into the hot dog business?
Jeremy: My dream of hot dogs came from a friend who has a hot dog business. I worked with him to try it out and I was hooked. It was just a lot of fun, so as I got closer to retirement I began to create my business plan.
My wife and family were my biggest motivation, my wife named the business after our two Good Dogs; Sunny and Ziggy. (Of course they get to eat a lot, lol) my wife is my soulmate and the best partner and friend I could ever dream of.
SOUTH LAKE TABLET: Tell me about what you did before becoming a hot dog entrepreneur
Jeremy: I was a law enforcement officer for 27 years. I met with the President of the United States while serving as a nation L.E.O. committee member and was assigned to numerous tasks forces and special assignments over the years.
Much like police work every workday is a new adventure for us and changing locations is right up our alley. (it’s also nice that none of my customers now want to fight or try to kill me, that’s a big job perk!)
SOUTH LAKE TABLET: Any plans for the future?
Jeremy: We would like to add a truck or food trailer eventually and expand our catering operation so everyone gets to try out various foods like my police headquarters chili, southern style chicken enchiladas verdes, tasty grilled wings, and of course our dogs and sausages.
Our business is based on the most important concept in life; spending time with family and friends. Sure it’s nice to have a thriving business, but doing it with my family and friends is the best of the “good times” in life! Good people, good food, and good times is what Good Dog Eats is all about.
Hope to see you soon.. ?
