Members of the South Lake Art League spent one sunny morning at Clermont’s Historic Village sketching and photographing. The five watercolors on display in the Village’s Train Depot are some of the works of art that resulted from that morning.
The public is invited by the Art League and the Historical Society to come by and view the works in person. The Village is located at 490 West Avenue, Clermont on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola and close to the downtown’s shops, restaurants & breweries. The Village is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
In addition to the Train Depot, the Village is home to the Townsend & Kern Houses, the original Cooper Memorial Library, and a World War II Quonset Hut as well as replicas of the city’s first one-room schoolhouse and an outhouse. All the buildings (except the outhouse!) are open to tour every weekend. A $5.00 donation is requested for all visitors 12 and over.
Plans are moving along quickly for the building of another replica to be constructed at the Village. This will be of the Grace Baptist Church.

The Historical Society holds monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month. The board meeting (open to the public) begins at 6:00 PM and is followed by a presentation at 7:00 pm. Our next meeting will be held on September 13th in the Depot.
