United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties received a grant of $3,000 from the Mount Dora Community Trust to provide rent, mortgage, and/or utilities assistance for residents of Mount Dora who are experiencing hard times. The grant will be distributed to eligible families through United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties’ Family Stability Services program. This program provides case management and financial assistance to help struggling families remain housed when unexpected emergencies arise.
“This grant will make a major impact on families in Mount Dora,” said Nishika, Director of Family Stability Services at United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties. “It will offer reassurance and support for them during their financial hardship.”
The Family Stability Services program has been an especially important service as our area continues to feel the effects of the pandemic. Last year, the program provided 1,679 families throughout Lake and Sumter Counties with rental, mortgage, and/or utilities payments, nearly five times the number of families assisted before the pandemic. Support from the Mount Dora Community Trust helps to ensure that Mount Dora families receive the assistance that they need.
