South Lake Nonprofit Think Tank creates a place where local nonprofits can come together and discuss best practices and innovative solutions for operating and funding successful nonprofits. The group explores common solutions to solve problems as well as to work to share information on many other important demanding issues like community impact, organizational growth, new services, media exposure, special events and grants. It also provides a directory for the local community seeking assistance.
On Friday, April 8, members of the South Lake Think Tank gathered at the Community Foundation of South Lake to discuss best practices. Pastor Tony McCoy of the Hope International Church was this month’s speaker.
Pastor Tony McCoy and his wife Jodie McCoy are the Senior Pastors and founders of Hope International Church. From the church’s humble beginning in 2004, the church has grown from a small service being held in a home, to having its own Worship Campus on State Road 33 in Groveland.
Pastor Tony was born and raised in Orlando, and is the oldest of four children. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Florida and went on to get his minister’s license in 1996, through the United Christian Church and Ministerial Association.
Pastor Tony is also a retired ten-year veteran of the National Football League. Drafted in the fourth round in 1991 by the Indianapolis Colts, he enjoyed 8 years of success and later went on to sign a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals. During his professional career, Pastor Tony says he had the joy of leading many of his teammates into a personal relationship with the Lord.
Pastor Tony, his wife Jodie, and the members of Hope International have been working to make a positive impact on the communities throughout Lake County. They minister to couples, kids, youth, special needs, Everyone. Hope International Church’s mantra is Saving Souls, Encouraging Hearts, Changing Our Surrounding Communities.
He notes that Hope International Church is not a white church or a black church; It’s a Jesus Church.
Pastor Tony’s book, “FIVE CORE HOPE VALUES ” is being used throughout the community as an inspiration and key to a brighter tomorrow.
