The Clermont Historical Society proudly announces the upcoming dedication of the newly constructed Chapel at the Historic Village.  The beautiful Chapel was designed to resemble the early churches built by the pioneer settlers of Clermont.  The dedication will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 14th and will include live music by strolling violinist, Janie Weise, a benediction by Nancy Willingham the minister at Unity Clermont, and the donating of the building to the City of Clermont.  Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

The Chapel was built by Collins Construction & Consulting LLC using plans drawn by local architect, Nick Jones and features a beautiful stained-glass window designed and made by local artist, Alexandra Huggins of Alternative Stained Glass.

The Chapel can seat 24 adults comfortably and will be available for rentals for weddings, vow renewals, baptisms, etc.  The Village Manager, Roxanne Brown, can answer any questions you may have about renting the Chapel.

The Clermont Historic Village is located at 490 West Avenue on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola and is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for tours of all the buildings on the property.  A donation of $5.00 per person over 12 is requested.

If you are interested in the history of Clermont or history in general, why not consider joining the Historical Society?  Membership is only $25 annually for an individual and $35 for a couple.  Our monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Train Depot at the Historic Village.  The board meeting (open to the public) is at 6:00 PM and is followed by a presentation at 7:00 PM.

Our next meeting is scheduled for June 13th when Dr. Tony McCoy, Senior Pastor of Groveland’s Hope International Church will talk about his life story that took him from professional football player to pastor and about the basis for his new book, The Five Core Hope Values.  For more information about the Historical Society and the Historic Village, go to clermonthistoricvillage.org or call352-242-7734.
