The Irish SIG is composed of people that are researching or seeking to research their Irish heritage. Attendance is open to anyone interested in learning more about their Irish roots or sharing what family they have researched and what they found.

The group meets virtually (Zoom), on the third Monday of the month at 10 am. Meetings last about one hour. The host will suggest a topic a month in advance and then present info on that subject mentioned. Attendees are encouraged to participate. The group compiles a list of family names currently being researched so if others in the group are researching the same surname, they can compare notes.

Example topics covered: Research tools like census (US and Irish), Parish records, Griffith’s Valuation (land tax records), Dog Licenses, Petty Court records, Penal transport records. We have looked at the US, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and UK records and discussed how to use them. Other topics of discussion are the various available free and paid research sites. Come and join the group by sending a request to info@pastfindersslc.org.
