The Bennett Law Center and the City of Groveland are proud to partner and host the city’s first “One Love” Reggae Music Festival. The festival celebrates reggae month. Enjoy the sweet sounds of reggae music and some spicy jerk chicken at this family-friendly event. All of this in the City with Natural Charm at the beautiful Lake David Park in downtown Groveland on February 25 from 2-8 PM.
The “One Love” festival is part of a series of local festivals to celebrate cultural diversity and to promote a welcoming and inclusive community. Last month celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year and a future “Tacos and Tequila” event is planned. Sponsor and local business person Bridgette Bennett tells us, “we are committed to celebrating people of all cultures and backgrounds. Jamaica’s motto is ‘Out of Many, One People’.” She joyfully shares, “I love that I have the opportunity to partner with the City of Groveland to bring cultural festivals as a way of community engagement and expression.”
The day and festival is all about love as we celebrate Jamaica’s most famous musician, Bob Marley. The night will end with glow sticks as we sing “One Love” together! During the afternoon, Jamaican singer Gramps Morgan and platinum artist Marion Hall are scheduled to perform. Also on the bill are the Musical Seduction Reggae Band, 506 Crew dynamic reggae band and Ruffcut International Sound playing throughout the afternoon. “As an immigrant from Jamaica, there’s nothing more that I enjoy than sharing our culture with those I encounter.” Bridgette continues her story and enthusiasm, “it’s Reggae Month – what better way to celebrate than to enjoy the music and food of Jamaica in the City with the Natural Charm.” Yeah Mon!
During the festival, you can take a walk around Lake David Park. The park provides a beautiful view while relaxing and enjoying the wonder of nature and the variety of wildlife in the area. Take a break and rest on one of the many benches that are placed along the walking path and throughout the pavilion area. One of the best sunset views is from the lake overlook walkway.
