The team members and mentors from Groveland’s own All Wired Up FIRST robotics team participated in the FIRST Robotics Orlando Regional at the UCF Arena over the weekend. The 3-day event included 5 practice rounds and 10 qualification rounds over 3-team fun-filled days.
The team overcame some early challenges and others like overall balance were more persistent. The team drivers and programmers built on their experience and finished strong. They were on the winning team in 2 of their late qualification matches. The matches were simulcast on twitch.tv so that friends and family could watch live or see replays.
The team also held two practice sessions at Groveland Fire Station 2 on Cherry Valley Road. The city and GFD are long-time supporters of the team.
The team meets weekly during the school year at Edge Memorial United Methodist Church in a donated dedicated clubhouse room. Other main sponsors include the City of Groveland and Kalos Services Inc. who will be covering the majority of the operating costs for the season. Mom’s Guide To Robotics whose funds are used for promotional items like team shirts, lunches, and internet presence. Link Printing and other local businesses provide discounted items.
The team operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that relies solely on donations and sponsorships. The team is dedicated to bringing access to robotics programs to all Lake County students.
