The National Day of Prayer is held annually on the first Thursday of May. The Kiwanis Club of Clermont held its annual Prayer Breakfast celebrating the day of prayer on Thursday morning, May 4, at the Wesley Center

Robert D. Walker, Director of the East Ridge High School Chorus, brought the “Rhythm of the Knights”, the very talented high school vocal group, to entertain those attending with pre-breakfast melodies.

 

Rev Tim Moses of the Crosstown Christian Assembly blessed the breakfast and Rev. Dawn Carter, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church gave the invocation. Pam Jones, a Community Relations Representative from the office of Congressman Daniel Webster sang a lovely version of the National Anthem and Congressman Daniel Webster provided a prayer. Mark Wright-Ahern, Choice of Champions Parks and Recreation Coordinator, sang a very beautiful rendition of “The Greatest Love of All”

The Guest speaker was Pastor Carlon Holder, Campus Pastor at Lakeside Church.

Tim Murry congratulates the members of the Boys & Girls Clubs for being selected as this year’s chosen charity

Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Clermont selects a service organization and the proceeds from the Prayer Breakfast is presented to them.  This year the proceeds will go to The Boys & Girls Club of Lake and Sumter Counties. Mayor Murry help start the Boys & Girls Club nearly 9 years ago.

The Boys & Girls Clubs provide safe places where kids, ages 6-18, can participate in fun programs that build their skills for school, the workforce, and life.
