Imagine South Lake Charter School launched an innovative project on Monday, May 5th with the unveiling of two Library on Wheels’ buses. The school has transformed two old school buses into a library for young readers. The buses will remain on the school campus and will be available to each grade level of the school.
A ribbon-cutting hosted by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce took place with the school’s partnered builder, the Hauff Company. The Hauff Company is a custom home builder in the South Lake area and stepped forward to help retrofit the retired buses.
The concept for the Library Bus project was conceived years ago by the school’s PTO leadership, however, the entire community has played a crucial role in the endeavor, as the project was made possible through fundraising dollars. The school’s former library was small and got even smaller over the years as the library space had to be converted into classroom space.
“We are so proud of the collaborative effort made by all to make this vision a reality for our students,” said Imagine South Lake Charter principal Jennifer Wesner. “Our hope is that the new buses will provide our students a fun space to connect with books and inspire a love for reading throughout the campus.”
