The keynote speaker at the South Lake Chamber of Commerce Breakfast was Lance Sewell, President of the Orlando Health South Lake Hospital 

Lance Sewell provides leadership for Orlando Health South Lake Hospital’s 180-acre campus, including 170 patient beds, an ambulatory surgery center, short-term rehabilitation facility and the National Training Center. He also provides oversight for the greater North Central region. 

Since joining Orlando Health in 2006, Lance has successfully guided the community-based, non-profit organization through an ever-changing and challenging time for healthcare organizations. He served as Chief Financial Officer at Orlando Health South Lake and the financial liaison for the hospital’s information systems. Lance is a certified public accountant with both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Belmont University in Nashville.  In addition to his professional associations, he has also served as past board chair for the Community Foundation of South Lake, and past board chair of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce. 

Orlando Health has 24 Hospitals and 7 free-standing ERs. Coming soon, 2 more free-standing ERs and 14 Urgent Care Centers. 

The South Lake/Orlando Health Hospital Tower is scheduled to open to the community in January 2024.

The 95-bed patient tower will feature Expanded Women’s Services to include Maternal Fetal Medicine, Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery, Gynecology Oncology and Urogynecology, A 24-Bed ICU and 30 Bed Medical Unit.  20-Bed Stepdown Care and shelled space for a level II NICU. and shelled space for an additional 30-bed unit. 

New services include Primary Care and Specialty Care (Spine Clinic, Primary Care Growth and Pediatric/ Specialty Practice.

Coming to South Lake Hospital

  • Woman Care: Cancer Care (Breast Oncology and Gyn Oncology),  Enhanced 3D mammography technology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology and invasive surgery.  
  • Renovation and Expansion of the Center for Women and Babies: Expanded mother and baby/recovery unit, a 15-room with state-of -the-art nursery (now open).
  • Renovated Labor and delivery unit (to open Fall 2023)
  • Renovation for outpatient areas including physician practices and first-floor entrance (To open Spring 2024)
  • Infant footprint technology for the safety of the youngest patients.

Take Stock in Children (TSIC) is a scholarship and mentoring program designed to break the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students by providing opportunities for a post-secondary education.
