EchoStar 25 (Jupiter 3) will be the heaviest geostationary satellite ever launched, at just over 9 metric tons.
 
Space Systems/Loral (SSL) announced in August 2017 that it was selected by Hughes Network Systems, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation, to build the Jupiter 3 / EchoStar XIX transformational Ultra High-Density Satellite (UHDS).
 
Jupiter 3/EchoStar XXIV is a large, multi-spot beam Ka-band satellite based on the highly reliable SSL-1200 space-proven platform, which provides the flexibility to support a broad range of applications and technology advances. It features an entirely new architecture based on a broad range of technological advances, including the miniaturization of electronics, solid-state amplifiers, and more efficient antenna designs, allowing 500 Gbps throughput. SSL has patented 18 technology advances incorporated into the spacecraft design, enabling it to provide highly concentrated capacity in critical areas.
 
The launch of Jupiter 3 will be the 3rd launch by a Falcon Heavy by SpaceX in 2023 and the 49th mission of 2023.
 
The lift-off is scheduled for July 23, 10:34 pm EDT / July 24, 02:34 UTC/GMT, and 04:34 CEST from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) of the Kennedy Space Center.
