PROPOSAL
Clermont Main Street is accepting submissions for a mural to enhance the downtown environment and further promote tourism and economic potential. Clermont Main Street requests submissions for art to transform an ordinary building with high visibility, to enhance the beauty of Downtown, and celebrate its history, culture, & current events. This proposal is for a painted mural in the Art Walk District of Downtown Clermont on West Montrose Street.

WORK DESCRIPTION

WORK SIZE
Artist will be working on a 15-foot wide by 18-foot tall space (15’x18’)

ELIGIBILITY
This project is open to all artists with prior experience of large murals along with surface preparation.

BUDGET
$2,500 (artist to provide all supplies – paint, brushes, ladder, etc.)

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS & DETAIL
Please submit a sketch of the proposed mural along with color samples and a list of wall treatments to be used. Artists may submit digital renderings, collages, or photographs to support their proposed design.

SAMPLE REQUIREMENTS
• Cover letter describing exhibition proposal.
• Up to (2) new proposed mural designs. Artists may incorporate local themes and designs, such as landscapes, nature and wildlife, water, flora, pictorial and nature related. Mural should be large scale but simplistic, to be seen from a distance. Artwork shall not contain advertising, religious, sexual, violent, political, or other content unsuitable for a public work of art. All work must be the original work of the artist in concept, composition, and execution.
• Artist resume including biography, educational background, and exhibition record.
• Up to (2) examples of prior and or existing murals.

TIMELINE
Work must be completed within four weeks of the start date no later than September 15, 2023.

DELIVERY
All files are to be submitted via email to: director@clermontdowntown.com by August 4, 2023, no later than 5:30 pm.

SELECTION PROCESS
Clermont Main Street will make a selection based on creativity and appropriateness. Decisions are final and not open to negotiation.

The selected artist will receive $1,000 upon completion of the mural. Clermont Main Street does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, religion, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.

NOTIFICATION TO ARTIST
Artists will be notified via email of acceptance or non-acceptance by August 18, 2023.

RECEPTION
A ribbon cutting will be scheduled after completion of the mural.

PUBLICITY
Artist will receive recognition on the wall in addition to Clermont Main Street’s website and any other marketing collateral pertaining to public art such as the Clermont Main Street Facebook and Instagram sites, Florida Main Street social media sites, print and digital news media, and other social media outlets. A press release will also be distributed.

SALES
Clermont Main Street reserves the right to use the mural image for future promotional items. Selected artists are required to sign a release form to participate. This form will grant Clermont Main Street the right to use images of the mural in promotional materials and advertising. Occasionally, we will use the images on merch, such as stickers, mugs, t-shirts, and prints. All proceeds from such sales will go to CMS. The artist retains all copyrights to the artwork if they wish to print on their own as well.
