Clermont-Minneola Lions Club President Dan Strauss welcomed Emily Brown of the Central Florida Expressway Authority as a recent club speaker. Ms. Brown brought the Club up to date on Expressway work nearing completion of the beltway at the northern end of the loop.
She also informed the Club of the progress on making the various state and national expressway passes interchangeable. The Feds have had to extend the mandatory dates for this process as it has become far more complex than they imagined. She assured the Club that it will eventually happen with the state’s several expressway systems leading the way.
The Club is planning a big spaghetti dinner March 11th at the Emerald Lakes Club House, 1401 West Highway 50, Clermont (near the intersection of SR 50 and 12th St.). The event will raise funds for District 35-O RIGHT TO SIGHT warehouse and clinic. The warehouse is the distribution center for the collection of used eyeglasses sent all over the world.
The public is always invited to come out to the Lions shooting range on SR 50, Groveland across from Tractor Supply on the second, third and fourth Saturday from 8 am to noon. All proceeds go to various Lions programs.
The Club meets on the second and forth Thursdays of the month and welcomes all. Join them for dinner at IHOP, 2589 S. Hwy 27 (2 miles south of SR 50) at 6 pm.
